Good news for car owners. High-end Vehicle Tracing Device (VTD) is now available in Bangladesh that offers a full range of surveillance, reports UNB.
Nits Service Private Limited, a subsidiary of Nitol Niloy Group, made the technology available in the country, aiming to help prevent carjacking and identifying whether company vehicles are being misused.
VTD is the combination of software and a device that is installed inside the vehicle by which the owner of the vehicle can easily control and monitor his/her vehicle by real-time live tracking, controlling speed, marking the running area (geo-fence), listening to voice inside of vehicle, stop the vehicle, lock the door, tour history including mileage, running area.
All these functions are controlled by computer or even simple cell phones.
"If your car is stolen you can go to your message option of cell-phone and switch your vehicle engine off through a message, and locate your vehicle through satellite," Arup Kumar Chaki, Chief Operating Officer of the company said.
He said they recently took part in a two-day fair marking the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day-2009 in the port city of Chittagong to introduce the technology.
Police officials think the tracking device would be effective in preventing carjacking.
