Mr Ferdous Wahed and Mr Shamim Ahmed have been elected president and general secretary (GS) respectively of the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA).

Mr AKM Zahirul Quyum Khan and Mr Mohammad Hassan have also been elected senior vice president and vice president respectively of the association.

They were declared elected unopposed as they were the lone candidates who submitted nomination papers for the posts.

BPGMEA Election Board Chairman Abdur Razzaque declared the result in the city Tuesday, said a press release.

Six other office-bearers were also elected in the election.

They are: Joint General Secretary Delowar Hossain (Jashim), Assistant General Secretary Noor Hossain, Treasurer Md Mohsin Bhuiyan, Organizing Secretary Moshaddequr Rahman Narmu, Publicity Secretary Jantu Kumar Saha and Sports and Cultural Secretary ATM Saydur Rahman Bulbul.

Seven executive committee (EC) members divided into two groups were also elected in the election. They are: General Group: M/s Humayun Kabir Bablu, Rubel Aziz, Md Yusuf Ashraf, KM Alamgir and Shamim Ahmed and Associate Group: M/s KM Iqbal Hossain and Abdul Mannan.
