MTB meets central bank's tier-1 ICT guideline

Mutual Trust Bank (MTB), a modern technology driven bank, has ensured availability of a modern information technology platform to support its entire suite of banking products and services.

This includes centralised online services, debit cards, credit cards, prepaid cards, international cards, SMS banking and tele-banking.

According to the ICT division of the bank, MTB works under a completely automated environment and based on the categorization theory of Bangladesh ICT guidelines, ICT operations of MTB falls in tier-1.

All MTB branches are computerized and connected to the central data centre at Head Office either through radio link, fiber optics cable or through V-SATs. The centralized core banking solution has given the bank the platform to introduce online banking services as early as 2004.

The sources said electronic mails or emails are now the means of official correspondence of MTB. Introduction of corporate internet system has enabled the bank to establish instant connectivity for communication across its countrywide network of 36 branches, five SME centres and five brokerage house branches, leading to paperless communication which is considered environment friendly.

Since 2008, the bank has focused on using stronger access controls, firewalls, intrusion detection system, routers, encryption and other controls and mitigating strategies to protect its most valuable asset information as well as to provide excellent customer services and implement innovative systems through a continuous improvement process.
