CHITTAGONG, May 3: The private sector entrepreneurs should be involved in business activities with the spirit of patriotism for ensuring overall economic development of the country.
Privatisation Commission Chairman Mirza Abdul Jalil said this while exchanging views with a team of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) led by its President MA Latif, MP at the Chittagong Chamber House auditorium Wednesday.
Dr Jalil highly praised the activities of the CCCI president and its board of directors and also expressed his desire for exchanging views with the trade bodies of the country regularly. He sought co-operation of all including the dedicated, experienced and patriotic businessmen for achieving prosperity of the country.
MA Latif, in his speech, raised the issue of the chamber-proposed Specialised Industrial Park to be built along both the banks of the river Shankha for enhancing economic dynamism and employment facilities in the region and sought co-operation of the commission chairman for its implementation.
CCCI chief expressed his determination for building his electoral constituency Chittagong 10 as a model one for implementing the government's charter of changing the days.
Different issues including resolving power, gas and water crises of Chittagong on priority basis, bringing about political stability, employing the managing director of the proposed Karnaphuli Gas Distribution System Ltd and its full-fledged implementation were also discussed in the meeting.
CCCI Senior Vice-President MA Salam, chamber directors SM Abu Taiyab, Md Emdadul Hoque, privatisation commission member SAK Motaher Hossain, Chittagong Divisional Commisioner MAN Siddique and Deputy commissioner Farid Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury were also present on the occasion, among others.
