President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Zafar Osman has stressed the need for having proper knowledge on purchasing and supply chain management to face the challenges of globalisation.

He made the observation while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a three-day workshop for Training of Trainers (ToT) on International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (IPSCM) in the city recently, said a press release.

The DCCI Business Institute (DBI) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) WTO/UNCTAD, Geneva jointly organised the workshop.

He said the objective of the DBI is to upgrade the skill of entrepreneurs and business executives by imparting modern training so that they can convert the challenges of free market-related economy into opportunities.

He also expressed his commitment to upgrade DBI into a full-fledged Business School and expected that ITC would extend necessary cooperation to upgrade the IPSCM Diploma into a degree course in future.

Deputy Secretary (Training) of the DBI Md Shamsuddin Azad coordinated the workshop.

A total of 13 trainers from reputed business organisations took part in the workshop, the release added.
