SEC issues show-cause notices to cos, men

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued show-cause-cum-hearing notices to Maq Paper Industries Limited, Sajib Knitwear and Garments Limited, Maq Enterprises Limited, Excelsior Shoes Limited, CMC-Kamal Textile Mills Limited, Pharmaco International Limited, M Hossain Garments Washing and Dying Limited, Sreepur Textile Mills Limited, Quasem Silk Mills Limited, Quasem Textile Mills Limited, Rose Heaven Ball Pen Limited, Bangladesh Electricity Meter Company Limited, Raspit (Inc.) Bangladesh Limited, Metalex Corporation Limited, Wata Chemicals Limited, Saleh Carpet Mills Limited, Dynamic Textile Industries Limited, Raspit Data Management and Telecommunications Limited, Chic Tex Limited and Perfume Chemical Industries Limited, their directors, managing directors and company secretaries for not holding their respective AGM in the year 2008.

Saiham Tex board accepts bid for Unit-1

The board of directors of Saiham Textile in its meeting held Tuesday in connection with sale of land and condemned/damaged factory building of the company (Unit-1) resolved that "the price offer given by M/s Saiham Knit Composite Limited has been accepted unanimously by the board of directors of Tk 20.20 million against purchase of land and condemned and damaged factory building properties of Saiham Textile Mills Limited Unit-1 as the highest bidder among six participants. Decision has been taken unanimously for disposal of land and building properties to the highest bidder on receipt of full payment as per terms and conditions laid down in tender documents."

Resumption of trading

Normal trading of the shares of Samorita Hospital will resume today (Thursday) following the starting date of book-closure and there will be no price limit on the trading of the shares of the company for the day. (As per SEC directive dated December 1, 2008)

Response to DSE queries

Padma Cement: In response to a DSE query, the authorities of Padma Cement have stated that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information of the company for the recent unusual price hike of its shares.

Metro Spinning: In response to a DSE query, the authorities of Metro Spinning Mills Limited have stated that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information of the company for the recent unusual price hike of its shares.

Spot market trading

Dhaka Bank: Spot market trading and block/odd lot transactions of the shares of Dhaka Bank Limited will be settled as per spot settlement cycle with cum benefit between today (Thursday) and March 9, '09. Trading of the shares of the bank will remain suspended on record date on March 11, '09.

S Alam Cold Rolled: Spot market trading and block/odd lot transactions of the shares of S Alam Cold Rolled Steels Limited will be settled as per spot settlement cycle with cum benefit between today (Thursday) and March 9, '09. Trading of the shares of the company will remain suspended on record date on March 11, '09 for annual general meeting (AGM) and extraordinary general meeting (EGM).

IDLC: Spot market trading and block/odd lot transactions of the shares of IDLC will be settled as per spot settlement cycle with cum benefit between today (Thursday) and March 9, '09. Trading of the shares of the company will remain suspended on record date on March 11, '09.

Confirmation of share sale

Mr Zia Shamsi, one of the sponsors of Agni Systems Limited, has stated that he has sold 1,50,048 shares of the company through stock exchange as announced earlier. Source: DSE/CSE Online
