CHITTAGONG, Feb 23: Compliance issue has now become a very important issue in the readymade garment (RMG) sector of the country under international and domestic pressure and it has become necessary to ensure compliance in all factories of RMG industry.
Former director of BKMEA Shawkat Osman expressed the above view while inaugurating a daylong workshop of the midlevel officials of Chittagong-based member factories arranged by the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BKMEA) in the city Thursday.
Mr Osman said the main objective of the workshop is to build at least one skilled compliance officer for each factory. It would enhance the ability of the concerned factory on the one hand and BKMEA would be able to implement compliance within the current year, on the other.
He also advised the officials to apply the gathered knowledge on related fields for raising the RMG export from the country. Later, certificates were distributed among the participants of the workshop.
