The government Sunday constituted two committees, at district and ministerial levels, to recommend withdrawal of cases filed against innocent people and political leaders-workers in different periods with the motive of political revenge and other reasons to harass them, reports BSS.
A circular of the Home Ministry said the district magistrate would be the president of the committee, while additional district magistrate would be the member secretary of the four-member committee.
Other members of the committee are the police super (a deputy commissioner of police for the metropolitan areas) and the public prosecutor (city public prosecutor for cases in city areas).
As per the work area and work procedure of the committee, any person would be able to apply to the concerned district magistrate by April 15, 2009 about withdrawal of cases, attached with the certified copy of the statement and where needed the chargesheets.
The district magistrate would send the applications to the public prosecutor within seven working days of submitting it for his or her opinion.
The public prosecutor within 15 working days of receiving the prayer would send it to the district magistrate, who would place it in the meeting of the district committee within seven working days.
