CHITTAGONG, Feb 16: Necessary measures have been taken up for turning the port city of Chittagong 'digital' in conformity with Awami League-led government’s pledge of turning the entire country into a digital nation.

In this context, all relevant measures would be started very shortly.

Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury made the remark while inaugurating a 'Technology Fair-2009' on the occasion of the fifth founding anniversary of Chittagong City Corporation Computer Institute (CCCCI) at the Engineers Institution here Monday.

The CCC mayor announced in the fair that the port city would be built as a model city and the task of manufacturing computer accessories and laptops would also be taken in cooperation with the Premier Laptop managed by the CCC.

Referring to India's remarkable success in the field of information technology (IT), the mayor reiterated his determination on behalf the city corporation to continue his efforts to involve the people with the ever expanding IT network around the world.

He assured to provide all sorts of co-operation to the CCC computer institute and its students.

M Kaikobad of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) said all innovative activities were initiated from the port city and the long march towards establishing digital Bangladesh would also be launched from Chittagong.
