RANGPUR, Dec 27 (BSS): Police in separate drives during the past 24 hours ending at 6:00 am Saturday arrested 42 persons, including suspected criminals, from various places in the district.
Police said, the arrested included suspected criminals, muggers, listed terrorists, cheats, thieves, drug traffickers and peddlers, extortionists, absconding accused and warrantees.
The police also recovered good quantities of phensidyl, locally produced wine, ganja, narcotic substances and other illegal goods during the raids, the sources said.
Of them, Kotwali police arrested three persons, Gangachara four, Taraganj three, Mithapukur 13, Pirganj seven, Pirgachha two and Rangpur DB police 10 persons during the period.
The arrested were sent to jail after producing them before different courts, the sources said.
On the other hand, police in separate anti-crime drives arrested 23 persons in Joypurhat including five suspected criminals on various charges from five upazilas in the district during the last 48 hours until Saturday morning, police sources said.
Police sources also said, the arrested persons were absconding warrantees, cheats, accused persons in different cases and other anti-social elements.
The arrested persons were sent to jail hajat after producing them to different courts of Joypurhat, the police sources added.
